Shamanism of the Future

The countries of Europe have lost their proud splendour and wealth and, at the same time,
their access to the realms of Creation, of the Creator, to the guides and guardians of the realms of nature and of humanity.
What has been given by the Divine is being trampled underfoot by dark forces of thought.

Who Still Needs Shamanism?

This question arises in a time of crossing thresholds, in a time of a world raging with menace.
Societies persist in digital dementia, have fallen out of Creation, separated and cut off from their sphere
of existence.
Alongside this stands a shamanism that speaks of light, does not want to recognise evil and believes it can stand against it.
Can a shamanism that lives on drumming evenings, invocations of the good, celebrations of the yearly cycle, ineffective rituals and other such things endure in this world? Angel and demon contend for the tools of shamanism.
It cannot be a matter of accepting shamanic traditions as truths of faith. If we discover that, long before us, something similar was recognised by other paths, we can take this as confirmation.

The Roots of the Shamanism of the Future

In what is yet to come, female and male shamans will unfold their full human potential spirally outwards from the centre of the circle.
I compare this growth with the yew tree. It has an extensive root system that nourishes the tree.
If we look at the seedling, it first of all invests in its roots. Strengthening the roots takes priority.
They are its system of security and filtration and bear witness to the tree’s capacity for regeneration.
A profound study of yew traditions reveals the perfect principle of self-renewal.
Alongside its physical existence, the tree also reveals its metaphysical existence.
Yew trees were worthy of their name as World Trees.

Between Heaven and Earth

They were pillars of light connecting heaven and earth. A light from beyond the world of opposites.
To this day, bands of light flow from the primordial source through the pillar of light, comparable to the colours of the rainbow.
From the clefts of the earth, bands of light appear, flowing upwards towards the heavens.
Shamans of the future will learn to journey within these upward and downward currents. Only those who, as female or male shamans, master these journeys will be able to endure in what is yet to come.

What Kind of Human Being Will Carry the Shamanism of the Future?

This image awakens an awareness of polarity. At the same time, it points towards cosmic order, towards divine harmony, which will become the aim of the shamanism of the future and of its manifestations on Earth.

A shamanism of the future will be measured by whether deeds follow from this connection.
By whether it assumes responsibility towards human beings and fellow human beings, the Earth and the realms of nature, the living and the dead.
It will be measured by what kind of human being uses the tools of shamanism.
Merely speaking of light while denying the evil that has already manifested itself across the entire Earth will no longer be possible.

Preparing the Way for Humanity

Building a path into what is yet to come will not be easy.
A path does not come into being simply because people speak about it. Earth must be moved, stones must be carried, obstacles must be removed. Only then can a human being walk upon it.

Female and male shamans of the future will themselves have to become a sustaining force. They will have to work hard on their courage, on their will, which acts with the participation of the heart, on their ways of knowing and thinking, and on many other things.
A deep, unconscious longing is that force which must be raised into consciousness. It allows the female and male shamans of the future to grow organically into what is yet to come, through every chaos, beyond the abyss.
A consciousness that looks both backwards and forwards will accompany the paths of the shamanism of the future.

The Power of Self-Renewal

Yew trees, too, undergo processes of hollowing out.
The trunks of old yews begin to become hollow and threaten to die.
Sometimes, however, internal roots form – a kind of “self-recycling”. In this way, the tree can renew itself from within.
The yew carries within itself the possibility of renewal. Whether shamanism, too, can develop this power will reveal itself in whether the calls of the New are heard and taken up into a new way of working.
