Shamanism in Transition – What Still Holds?
Shamanism in general recoils from the present and the future as though from Satan himself.
Anyone capable of thinking will notice that this fundamental attitude has become one-sided and misguided. Shamanism in transition requires us to examine what has come into being and not to close ourselves off from the present and the future.
The rapidly advancing spirit of the times demands more than a personal striving for healing; it demands this for all of humanity and for all of nature.
In the one-sidedness of shamanic practices and the narrowing of shamanic vision, concern for the future is missing. An unwillingness to think stands opposed to a willingness to think.
A genuine inner development of shamanic work can only take place if it leads the liberated human being to the threshold of an inner decision. It is no coincidence that the training
“Spiritual Healing – Healing Shamanism” at “Light from the Yurt” precedes the Shamanic training. The fundamental attitude behind it is:
“That the human being may become more fully themselves.”
What Still Holds?
What still holds? Where the field remains untilled, there is no ground in which the future can be planted.
Whether traditional shamanic forms still hold today is revealed not through their repetition, but where they must prove themselves in reality.
Present-day shamanism lacks a place in which the future can be planted. Many areas have hardened; we believe the field has not been cultivated.
Rituals in their old form no longer hold; their effects are modest.
Here is just one small example: rituals for Mother Earth, as they have been widely practised for a long time, no longer work in their old form. Why?

What Truly Opens the Heart?
The same applies, as we see it at “Light from the Yurt”, to the famous “opening of the heart” found in all spiritual methods.
What truly opens the heart, and who penetrates as far as the small knot at the very ground of the heart?
Who finds the thread that leads farther out into the soul-spiritual realm?
Who withstands what is found there?
How does one live with the opposites of inside and outside, and how does the path lead from the desert into the regions of the springs?
These small examples also show that shamans can only teach if they draw from knowledge, truthfulness, the power of wisdom and the wisdom of life.
What Remains of the Ancient Initiations?
What still holds? Where the field remains untilled, there is no ground in which the future can be planted.
The twilight of the gods has long since descended upon the ancient, genuine system of initiation. It degenerated and was misused for magical purposes.
What endured from the ancient initiations can be found, for example, in Heraclitus and Pythagoras, whose teachings still contain treasures of spiritual life today.
Initiates were compared to trees or were called gardeners, and most probably they were gardeners as well.
And where did the Mysteries continue to flow without dilution and distortion, and where were they recast?
When Shamanic Forms Lose Their Power
Modern shamanism, which anyone can follow on the internet and social media, creates illusions. Shamanic work that has become unclear and impoverished loses its power and slips into deception and arrogance. This leads to a darkening of consciousness.
We at “Light from the Yurt” do not follow this path.
What Holds in the Midst of Change?
What holds in the midst of change? Between what endures, the living continually seeks a new path.
Shamanism, like everything else, is in a state of change.
What no longer holds will lose its power.
What will reveal and develop itself through the discernment of spirits cannot be foreseen.
From our present state of consciousness and soul, it is not easy to foresee what kind of living relationship with the forces of the soul will be needed in order to plant the inner and outer gardens anew.
The communication between mountain and lake will be measured out in several steps.
And new life-giving forces will be brought to the fruits of the Tree of Life. At “Light from the Yurt”, work is being done on the broken bridge between mountain and lake and between the human being and the spiritual world.
One thing is certain:
if we walk the path with open hearts, strength will flow to us from what is yet to come.
